What is your personal best shed hunting day?

I was wondering what a perfect day of shed hunting is like for some of guys . A first day out for the year, with a good winter for me is about a dozen whitetail sheds. my personal best one day in east koots is 31 mule deer sheds back in the early 90,s.personal best for elk sheds in one day is 7. My brother goes shed hunting in sask and has found up to 70 sheds in one day. I really would love to find the time to go shed hunting in saskatewan.

But when all is said and done an average day after I have cleaned up all my hot spots. I will only find two or three sheds a day.

I saw a shed on the ground. I picked it up and left it there for the rats.

5 elk sheds in a day...a 7 point and four 6 points.
another day was pretty good a few years back....me and my buddy bear hunting found 2 mule deer sheds(a set) which scored about 140, 2 WTD antlers, a set of 6x6 elk antlers and a moose antler.

Hunting elk up north, there is a nice grassy south facing slope that we have hunted and on any given day you can easily walk past over 100 elk sheds, it's unreal. I've picked up a few just to look at but all remain on that hill...it's a fly in access and a provincial park so no go on taking them out. Another valley in this same area is littered with moose drops, lost count the last time I hunted it, maybe 40-50 seen in one day.

While doing some sheep work also up north, we spent most days trailing with horses and would often trot past a few dozen moose sheds in a day. I remember stopping in a small meadow, probably only 20mx20m and picking up 7 moose sheds in that spot alone...if only it was profitable to trail in a pack string just to go shed hunting in there :wink:.

Numbers mean nothing if they are all rats. Quality versus quanity. I've had weeks where all I've found is one muley shed, but it was a 100 incher, and that is why I pound the hills day in and day out. Best day I ever had was 2 seperate 200 inch match sets of muley sheds. Best week was 3 sets off of MassNTrash, a buck I had watched for numerous years and eventually killed. Biggest set was 225.

well in BT deer my best is 12 in 3 hour in two spots 2 pairs and only one 2-point all the rest 3 and bigger

Not meaning to highjack the thread but does anyone know what the price, per pound, is for elk sheds. I have a few from this year and a bunch from last year that I'm thinking of selling, but don't know how much to expect to get for them. Thanks

My best day is still 15, like others said, Ill take quality over quantity anyday! Ive had days where I quit by noon because I couldnt pack anymore! (big moose paddles)
