Open meaning the ice is off already? Or open meaning there's seasonal regs? And ya, we did have a huricane out here yesterday so it was prolly none too nice up there either. lol.

Haven't been around frozen lakes for a quite a while, what's the rule of thumb for turn over after ice off? A week or two?

PGK no longer lives in BC so I don't think so.

Need to get some heat in the teens to help with the turn over. Nights are still dipping below zero right now to keep the water cold so this week should be good.

Mid April ... money is on that it will be turning with full fledge fly fishing resuming again by first week of May.

Given the quality of the ladies up there, 24 hour daylight is probably a man's worst enemy when leaving the bar.

I lived at Dragon Lake for 14 years before moving away in 2006. In that time, I can't remember the ice coming off this early. I have seen the ice come off in a day with the wind and I can tell you the lake will have turned over in this time. The lake is relatively shallow and rolls over with significant wind, especially from the south. So, the fishing will not come on until the lake cleans up, this will be about 2 weeks more or less.

He's probably living the dream right now, never had so many women falling over him.

Wow I can't believe the ice is off already on some lakes. Sure is very early this year.

Srupp as far as Sheridan goes for ice thickness, last week I was at my cabin and there was still over 1ft of ice (about 14-15 inches) in front of my cabin. Usually the ice is off in mid May. It was however breaking off at the shoreline. I remember last year around this time there was about 28 inches of ice.

If you want I can let you know once the lake is ice free.

was at dragon for the second time this spring today. again, the wind was strong and didn't let up the entire day. that being said, the fishing was good in the morning and again in the afternoon. several good fish to the boat. very little in regards to a chironomid hatch, although you could see the odd one floating on the surface. microleach were the flavour of the day.

the water is pretty clear, at least compared to last weekend
