I was looking at the new Leh regs online and noticed there were no leh draws for bull elk in region 4. What's happening over there this season for the bulls?

Danno it must be general open season then, maybe 3 point and better, have to wait for BC Hunting and Trapping Regulation Synopsis it will pin-point the bull elk season in a nut-shell. Bing bang boom!
Jel -- region 4 has elk .. go to region 4 this season for big game animals --

Can't read with out my bi focals and I can't find my regular eye glasses to find the bi-focals so the little print is too small for an elk hunter to see. lol.
jel .. I'd need a micro-scope for dat. lol.

Looks like it is GOS for bull elk in the West Koots! Nice to have the option to put in for a late cow draw if you don't fill your bull tag.

Wear hunter orange if planning on chasing bull elk in Krestova opening day!

Is this all season or just the last 20 days in Oct. Is there not going to be a draw to hunt them in the rut?

I think some elk rut in mid-October but it's late in some years maybe no response to calling if the rut is waning in mid-October ..
I'm not an expert but in late August some years the elk bulls start squealing a might smidgeon .. bugle boys .. start testing the three major notes ..
like a world class opera singing baritone from Italy.

the last 3 years I have been in the elk valley near jaffery and it has simply been way too warm. End of sept and no elk around, no talkin, just waiting for it to cool down. early - mid october might be the ticket, but if you pull an antlerless draw for the end of sept then your stuck in the heat if the weather stays the same. Shut out 3 years in a row so far! Hope things change.

First 20 days in October.

Elk will still be rutting just like everywhere else in the province.

Got my 6x7 bull in Region 4 last year by Cranbrook on Sept 19th. I shot it at 7:30 a.m. and had 3 different bulls bugling at the same time.
By 2 PM the temperature was 28 celcius.
When it comes to the rut I am a firm believer that temp doesn't make much difference as I have bugled them in high temperatures and low.

Not sure about this. I hunt primarily Sept 1 - 9 and we have bulls raging mad at all times. Not a day goes by we aren't playing a hot bull in hot weather.

Hornets, blue bottom flies and hot weather can be a beach ... and the grizz are coming the grizz are coming.
September is warm weather and you'll need a plan for the elks meat to get it cooled down proper .. or sour by the bone and lose all of it to bone sour..
that's where locals have the advantage in early early warm season..

i guided a few hunts last season and the elk were bugeling rite to the end, and not just a few of them. if ya can stagger out of your truck and walk a few K's you'd find a bull any time of the season.

My opinion is that the bull to cow elk ratio is out of wack thats why there is no bull draws in region 4..
