In the 2009-2010 Synopsis, page 8, about "Deer Licenses":

"A person must not posess more than 15 of any current year deer licenses. The combination of deer licenses may include a maximum of 3 mule deer and 3 white-tailed deer licenses".

Does that mean I can shoot 15 deer on Queen Charlotte Island, or 3 mule deer and 3 white tailed deer on the other various hunting regions in rest of British Columbia ?

We discussed some of these issues last hunting season, and I was informed by some of the more knowledgeable members in these fine pages, that the overall, total legal limits and combination of mule and white-tail deer to be bagged, was only 3 in all of British Columbia, except for the Queen Charlotte Island ?

Why then can I posess 3 mule deer and 3 white-tailed deer ?

There is a 3 deer provincial bag limit except in the Charlottes. Its 3 combined not 3 of each species. After that each region has it's own combined bag limit also, in region 8 it's 2 deer total , only 1 mule deer.

You can purchase enough tags to fill a limit of either species, but you can only shoot what's legal in the area you're hunting in.

You answer is here , Page 16. http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/fw/wildlife/hunting/regulations/0910/docs/Hunting-TrappingSynopsis_0910.pdf Provincial combined muledeer and whitetail limit is three.

You are allowed to have 3 mule deer and 3 white tail licenses because you are allowed to shoot 3 deer provincially, any combination of 3 white tail, 2 white tail 1 mulie, 1 whitetail 2 mulie, 3 mulie etc...you get the point...allowing for regional bag limits of course.

If you buy 3 of each, you are guaranteed to have 3 unused tags at the end of the season, just a question of which species.

They are confusing. Are you in the lower part of the valley?

I am living around Summerland. Lots of good hunting around me, if I am willing to drive 1/2 to 6 hours.

Lots of white-tails in that area, especially higher up. Lots of private land. There are supposed to be a fair turkey hunting, going towards Baldy Mountain from Oliver ? Only been on that road during the ski season.

The mountains around White Lake also looks promissing, but hard to find access, since most of this land is private.
