Well i did a scouting trip to christian valley for the upcoming turkey season and all i found were whiteys. They were everywhere, i have probably seen close to 500 whiteys. It didn't matter where i looked. i'm thinking there is not enough hunting pressure in the fall to even come close to putting a dent in the population. i don't ever recall seeing such numbers in any given valley.
By the way i couldn't find a turkey to save my life
Here is a few pics i've managed to take

That area gets lots of hunting pressure already. The WT just know how to hide when the pressure starts.

I remember back in the late 70's and early 80's we used to go up counting whitey's in Jan in the CV and would see well over 1000 in a morning drive. The CV has always had a ton of whiteys, and always had a ton of hunters. Still some good bucks in there though.

There was a time when the CV was mule deer haven, then the Hope-Princeton highway opened and there was a mule deer annililation. Opened the area for white tail intrusion.

Biggest muley to come out of the CV area nets over 290. Still some great genetics in there.

A old farmer from Fort St John Told me over the years the whitetails have pushed the mulies out.I would have thought it to be the other way around.

there are alot of muleys in the area as well, especially east of rendell cr. in the higher ground.managed to get nice little mulley buck there in the fall.also saw my first grizzly in the wild, at first we thought it was a moose runing away, when he finally stopped to check us out, we got a good look at him in a clearing.with distance between him and us he did'nt seem to mind our presence and vice versa. it was a real treat.

The christian valley is always like this in the late winter and spring! 500 a day from the truck is easy!

Why not? You could take your boyfriend Hubbard over to Rendell and set up camp in the middle of the main road. You might even put some meat in the freezer for once.

LOL the main areas in the CV are stupid busy in the fall!!
however there is still some very productive spots off the beaten trail....
I'm strongly considering a early season mullie trip, somewhere east of the CV......north end or central what would you recomend?

Should have a good population this year becaue of our mild winter.
Maybe I'll do better than a spiker this year.

I'm going to try for the CV North this year. See if I can spot and video any Grizz'sz.

try echo rd. about half way between kettle rvr. and rendell cr. off kettle-mohr fsr.there's a massive clearing there that can be accsesed on foot or atv.that is where we saw the grizz. my dad who lives in kelowna spends weeks at a time in this area.we go up together on thanks giving weekend, have done so for the last 3 yrs. and every year there's grizzly sign everywhere ,this fall i was lucky enough to finally see the great beast.good luck with the camera, you won't needed with the rifle, there's alot of game in thar hills.

You have discovered a great wintering area for whitetail! They migrate from the north for long distances, hundred plus miles, to get to the wintering area of their choice.
I am also quite sure that many of them continue south into Washington state, but a BC biologist I talked to about it, wouldn't confirm that they do. He said they didn't have proof of it, but he confirmed the migration I speak of above.

hard to confirm something without proof :) blacktails are more aggresive than whitetails but i guess the habitat there suits them much better? i didnt think whitetail migrated as far as muleys. i thought that whitetails were influenced less than muleys by new highways and population growth because they didnt migrate much?

WTF!!!!!
Melinda by many of your previous posts you must have a issues with a "Hubbard" so don't hind behind your computer screen and deal with it .Iam sure that he would love to talk to you about your problems and maybe a around a camp fire by Rendell Creek, and please ask him if you want to be his boy friend too.
As pre putting meat in the freeze I have no problem doing just that ,with our very liberal seasons + bag limits that we have in BC its a no brainer.
Its just a case of weather I what to pull the trigger and end my hunting season so quickly.
Also want to know as being a member of BCWF for over 30 years if there's a bylaw that states who your buddys can be ??
Cheers
