Hi everyone,

I'm having to do an interpretive talk on bears for a job interview and I'm looking for some facts about bear attacks in BC. I have searched all the posts here and have found many good posts, but i'm trying to find a total amount in the past ten years. I have searched google and I keep getting info from both canada and the US not specifically BC. I'm looking for info on both Blacks and Griz attacks.

Anyone know any good sights?

Thanx in advance.

moe should have the info you're after.it should be a matter of public discourse that they collect this data and make it available to the general public. after all it invoves public safety.

x 2 on any of James Gary Sheltons books, better yet read all three.
You will never look at a black bear the same.

"Bear Attacks" written by Steven Herrero. Great book. You will have a hard time sleeping in a tent after reading this book.

I agree the books from Gary Shelton are good, I'll have to head to the library and get one out.

In the research I have done, it's interesting that only a few attacks have been predator prey attacks. Where in afew cases the bear has actually guarded a victim as prey.

The more and more I read, the more I'm thinking of taking my 870 with me every time I head out in the bush. Especially fishing!

Thanx for all the tips guys.

HUGE difference between Stephen Herrero and Mr GAry James Sheldon

Mr Sheldon taught survival bear attack courses..and shotgun useage...for defensive purposes..while Stephen analysed why the bear did what he did..more a scholarly disection of the event..

Mr Sheldon is real world hands on type of guy..his book is the best I have ever read...and is a MUST read for any outdoor hunter..especially grizzly hunters..heck anyone out there in any area harboring bears black or Grizzly OR "COASTAL"
