Well work being so busy this time of year today was the last chance I'd get to go out this spring season. Headed out with Field Marshall and James this morning, it was a cool with cloud covered skies. We had a single goose give us a look first thing but we were caught out setting up the decoys and he decided it would be safer somewhere else.
A while later we had a family group skirting the decoy that Field Marshall managed to tag one, this one was a glider and the dog put on the chase for a good 200 yards before the bird finally hit the ground. Marshall takes a liking to this bird and picks it up and carries it around anytime we get out of the blind to adjust the decoys or just stretch our legs.

We then had a pair visit the spread and we managed to scratch both of them. As the dog was retrieving these birds we had another pair visit the decoys but the dog out in the field kept them just out of range.
The next thing to come in was another pair, I managed to scratch one out of the pair for a total of 4 geese for the morning.

It was a good day in the blind, we reminisced of previous hunts, enjoyed some smoked goose breast I made up last week and eat some cookies as well. We talked about how good a year it was and how fortunate we had been all season. I keep saying this every year, and it's been true, this had to have been the best season of waterfowling so far for me.
Now we clean and store the decoys for a good 7 months or so until the next fall flight of birds. It's going to be a long 7 months of trying to keep the dog happy and satisfied without being able to put birds on the ground for him to fetch and chase.
