So before my very sucessfull hunting friend moved he took me up to one of his "honey holes" He has claimed to have seen big bucks up here in early season. I've been 3 times and have only seen the odd track, a few rubs and two does. Look like good deer country to you high country guys? 2-17 area.

Looks like a really nice place.
I would very happily set up behind a spotter for 2-3 day bivys over the summer and locate a good buck.
There is a lot of cover there and when they're feeding during that time they dont need to move far.
Eat, bed down, stand up and eat again.
Maybe try to find a water source in the area with that kind of stuff around it. Keep to the north side in the heat of summer as that is where they will bed.

looks nice, potential for some longer shots. that would be a fun little piece of land... if they are there.

Looks real good. In the first pic, there is a stream in the bottom and I would focus there at dawn and dusk. During the day, would tromp around the hill sides as that is where they will bed most likely.

I would be finging a nice comfy spot and use the ol optics all day long. In that country they will see you 2 km away a book long before you see them.

That type of hunting is some of the funnest. Stay high and glass........lots and when you think you have glassed it all do it again. When you spot something good use the contours in the land and the trees to stalk it. Like MC said they will see you a ways off, move slow and if you break a sweat in the open you are moving way to fast. When they cant see you move fast but make sure not to spook anything, sometimes you spook something bigger getting to the first deer you saw.
Alpine hunting is fun take your time.

That's good country in there. We've taken 4 points before and I saw a guy come out with a non-typical last season, not a monster but a cool looking buck. Go deep and spend LOTS of time behind your glasses. Make sure you're in a good spot and glassing right at daybreak and right at sunset. Some areas in that region I've seen a ton of sign and not spotted any deer, they are there somewhere!

Ya you're in some good muley country. Put in some time and get to know the area and success will follow.

Yeah thats a good looking spot. I hunted there last year, if its the same spot and saw lots of bucks. None were 4 points but a few huge 3 pointers and some nice 2 points as well. Good Luck this season

This spot looks as good as they can get but has it produced any trophy bucks and if so can you or your friend post a pic or two of a buck he has taken from this area ,http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/images/icons/icon6.gif picture..

You might be in blacktail country and they dont like the open alpine areas as much as the mule's. Just seeing the odd track should be an indicator. Hunt where the deer are, not where you think they should be. Im not saying that this is your case but it is a mistake I use to make . Alpine hunting is good but not all alpine is good.

I also know that area, and just to the north. As I have stated earlier, there are some nice deer, and the odd moose in that area. If it has been a hot, dry summer, the vegetation will be burnt, so concentrate on the draws and northern facing slopes.

That isn't the kind of country I like for mule deer, looks more like borderline of mule and black tail.
Too big and spacious and then heavy heavy bush, pure mules like semi open forest. Nice to look at tho.
Jel ( just my guess ) no more no le$$

looks great to me. is there a typical 'border' that mulies are found less, and blacktails more often, in region 2?

Gotta agree with "Jelvis", that's close to the area I took an old gnarly blacktail several years ago, although most of the deer I've seen in the anderson headwaters were muleys. Also, june sometimes is a bit too early, better to go in july, or the first two weeks in august.

Starts just south of Pemberton ;-)
