Who's ready for the opening of bear season on V.I.?

I'm practicing (and practicing) so that my hunting buddy(s) and I can bring home a nice bow-shot blackie for some burger, stew, and sausages. http://www.forumsextreme.com/images/sHa_woot.gif

I'm itching to get at it, my wife is goign to take her core in a couple weeks and I'll try to get her out for a spring bear of her own. Was at the range for some fun shooting(9mm, 7.62, 30-30, etc)
Decided to bring the enfield out and she how she was hitting, first shot split the lil jet-dri bottle that I placed at the 100m mark:mrgreen: so I think I'll wait till the summer to do any more messing around with it.

Sidenote, not sure which the wife is more excited about spring bear or the prospect of getting her own pistol...lol

Not looking forward to bugs, mud and having a bag limit on something. The coyote and wolf season has kept me practiced up though, so bring 'em on!

What with this unusually warm weather the bruins should be out there waiting for us.

Can't wait. Got my fist bear last year. Never really bothered hunting them before that. Well....... now I'm hooked! Seems like their numbers are going way up here in the Cariboo. Need to bring those numbers back down 1 at a time...

I've heard that some taxi's will buy bear skins if they are large and of good quality? Is this true? Anybody have experience with that?

Was out today, up where we've seen a nice bear three times now. The bloom is on the Broom, the Pussy Willows are out, those nice red flowers are on the sticks....

Just no scat nor sign, yet.

Not on a mountain top for sure. Still snow up there. I was up behind Sooke, in a No Shooting zone.

I think that is pretty damn cool finding dens and having the stones or errr lacking the good sense to go on ahead and maybe lose your head by sticking your head in there! LOL Pictures please... make that videos please!

they are pretty Lathargic in the dead of winter .... but they are easy to spot ...just look for steam rising out of the ground .... it wouldnt be a smart idea to do this time of year however(have a look inside) ... Carry a big stick and a 12G defender ...I usually carry a camera in my pack but always forget to dig it out
