I am hoping to do a hunt for Mountain Goat east of Mcbride, in 7-3. I dont know the area at all once i get to the other side of McBride. I don't know where to go, but have heard I can go in, get a goat and be out in a day trip, but have also heard plan on staying out for a couple days. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

In and out with a goat in one day, with no previous experience in the area sounds like wishful thinking :)

If goat hunting were that easy everyone would be doing it.

I had a goat draw in in 7-03 zone g, I made one scouting trip during the summer and found a side road that got me up pretty high. Went back in the begining of Sept and hiked in, got my billy on the end of the second day. Makes it sound pretty easy, but we only saw two goats on that trip, maybe I just chose a poor drainage to head up in, but there's lots of counrty to choose from.

Goats are funny critters. Ya see tons on a slope this week and nothing when you are there to hunt. Hmmm
They move a fair bit so a day hunt anywhere is wishfull thinking.
As for the Hendrix area, definately not a day trip.

Here are some pics of my day trip up in that area for my goat a few years back. These were taken with a disposable camera so they are not that good but the shots are from about ten feet. Yes it possible to go up in that area for a day trip and get your goat.

Day trips for goat is good because there is alot less to carry, but you take a risk of shooting one late in the day and hiking out in the dark, or staying the night without a tent. I suggest scouting them out, leave early, and try to pack lite but be prepared for anything.

Those look like a nanny with kids. Not what one should be looking for.

You are right. That is why there are pics of them on the mountain and not the wall. The Billys were a bit futher back that day but still reachable.
