View Full Version : Goat Mount
I got one of my mtn. goat shoulder mounts back this weekend. I am happy with the work. I got this guy a couple years ago and wasn't sure if I should get him done or not as he isn't a huge billy. But, it was a solo hunt and he was in good shape as he didn't take any tumbles, so I decided to take him in to the taxidermist. Then last season I got a billy that was quite abit bigger, so I will have a couple heads on the wall. I can't wait to get my other billy back now.

Ya I passed on having a decent billy mounted, using it as an excuse to get up there after a bigger one. I know if I had one on the wall I would be a lot less eager. They do look good on the wall though.

Its not always about how big your animal is, but what it means to you! Arc you accomplished what many only dream of and to do it on a solo hunt in the mountains is awsome to say the least!
Nice goat! Man you musta had a heavy pack on the way out!

Thank everyone.
I have never scored him, but he is really just a little punk. He is an 8" billy and was harvested at the end of September. He doesn't look bad when you look at him one his own, but when I compare him with the one I got last year (10") he looks pretty wimpy.
But I got him in an area I hunted lots when I was younger without success, so it was good to finally take on out of there. Last years goat was in a new area and it wasn't as rewarding in some ways.

Hey Arc, nice workmanship on the goat. What taxidermist?? The one I had planned to go to in Vernon was a hell of a grump when I talked to him for the first time last fall. I'd rather give my business to someone who isn't a dink!

Nice mount..... Sounds like a true trophy to me.
Are you going to do a half-size or life-size mount on your other billy? From what I remember it had a nice late season cape on it.
Look forward to meeting up next time I am in the Loops......just need to finish up this local job, I am starting to get stir crazy!

I took it to dawn til dusk in Sorrento. She has a good reputation and does good work. I would recommend her, although she is quite busy, so be prepared to wait.

No, just another shoulder mount. I was thinking about a full mount, but don't really have the room to display it properly.
I'm sure we'll meet up next month.
