heading to Powell River how's the fishing?

Heading to Powell River tomorrow morning to check out some equipment the company just bought. I was thinking it would be good to try my hand at some fishing. How are the halibut biting? Are there any winter springs around? not looking for sepecific sites just general info.

I'm there right now. water is super clear, weather is great. spent about 5hrs jigging yesterday out of the yak, no halibut but a mess of big flounder and the usual pile of sole.

talking to the locals, PR is not the place for halibut. don't know anything about salmon (no interest)

we are actuall heading north of PR to Desolation sound, Homfray Channel to be exact.
