I have posted a few pictures of mine and my dads sheep so heres the story to go with them

August 2009 came around and we were gettin ready to head back up north to try sheep hunting again after the first time in 2008 wasnt successful for sheep but was for goat and caribou and was an alsome experiance. We should have both got rams the previous year but lack of knowledge on how to judge the sheep left are tags uncut. This year was differnt we prepared are selves with a better spotting scope new riffle scopes and for my dad a new gun and me a new backpack. We also had are buddy coming up with us instead of my mom. After the long 2 day drive we finaly were at are hunting spot with 6 horses ready to head up to are camp. After a 2 day ride we finaly got to camp and got it all set up.

The next day we got to a late start and found some rams in the back of a dranaige there was 2 monsters and 5 outher rams but with dark fading fast we decided we would leave the rams in there bed and come back in the mornin to make a stalk. They next morning we headed back but the rams had moved we then seen 2 more rams so we headed up the mountain. When we made it to the top there was 7 rams not 2. I setled in on the one ram that was legal BOOM the ram tumbled about 80 yards down the mountain and stoped to try to get back up. A few more shots and one not so good one slicing the sheeps throut and hiting its horn tip finished it off. After i got to my ram the outher rams stayed there about 100 yards away but no legal ones. Then about 800 yards away was the band of seveon rams from the previous day heading overtop of the mountain peak.I then loded my pack with the cape horns and meat and headed to the bottom by the time i got there i barly could walk and was happy to see my horse.

A few days whent buy trying to find those 2 big rams but no such luck. A few days after I got my ram me and dad headed into a valley that weve never bin in. After a long hike we were at the top on a big flat in prime sheep country(lots of beds and droppings). When we broke over the ridge there was an animal about 300+ yards away i quikly checked threw my binos then hit the ground tellin my dad it was a ram.We got the spotting scope out but the ram was gone then it apeared only 150 yards away. One well placed shoot and the ram was down then the hooting and hallering started and i theink we scared every thing out of the dranedge. We packed the sheep up and head back to camp making it to the horse just as it got dark.

Are buddy never got a chance after that at a ram but was verry happy just to be there. we packed up camp a few days latter and headed home with big smiles on our faces. It was an experiance that i will never forget at the age of 17 getting my first ram and am glade to have a dad that would take me with him every were he goes hunting.

Nice sheep!

That goat and caribou are fine animals if you were hunting the eastern slopes, it's hard to find anything much bigger so well done!
