being the RA XCR comes in 6.8mm Rem and .308 Win, it leaves one with an intriguing thought (if you can choke the cost down). I know some do hunt with their SKS or CZ-58, but that's not really what I was referring to.

actually, to expand, how many hunt with a milsurp rifle or a M14s? Enfields? Garands? Others?

I have hunted with SMLE's and I used to have a Garand but never took it hunting.:-D

I'll hunt with a Tavor after I buy one.

Got my first moose, and my first 4-5 whitetails with a 1912 Lee Enfield .303.

I took it to Florida years ago to wingshoot Flamingos with Karamojo Bell, but that's another story for another day. ;-)

Yup!!!! i hunt with a shorty M14 and regular M14, SKS-D.....always causes a stir from the uninformed whenever I post up successful hunt pics......most commonly "is that thing legal?". If I had an XCR, I'd be flossing it in the bush....always nice to see ppl's jaws drop when they see ya!!

RA XCR's do not come in 308 yet only the XCR-L's are being sold the XCR-M 308's are not released for sale yet...

I have an OD Green RA XCR in 223 ordered to use for predator/varmint hunting/shooting...

Once I find out how these rifles shoot I may get a 6.8spc or a 7.62X39 conversion kit for deer/bear.

I packed a Lee Enfield many years ago when I started out hunting. Dad got me one for my b/d....it cost $18.00 back in the day. Stil own/shoot one.

My first deer was with a Lee Enfield I hitchiked 60 miles to my parents place with it in a case. Try that today!

I also took a whitetail with a FN-C1 many moons ago. Awsome rifles but on the prohib list now I think.

I read an interesting thought recently...as I was thinking about an XCR in 6.8mm. you could get a Norinco/Poly M14s and kit it out to be supremely accurate and still have $1000 for ammunition vs. the cost of the XCR. while the XCR definitely has the 'fun' on it...so does the M14s.

I hunt with a Smelly as my Primary, My wifes Primary is a SKS-D(it's getting a Tapco stock should yeild her some looks). Once I pick up a M-14 I will hunt with it. I would hunt with a FAL in a heartbeat if it ever comes of the Prohib list.

XCR is pretty hi on $$$$$$ end of things as pointed out, you could pick up a Poly/Norc M-14 gut it tune it and hop it and still have tonnes-o-cash left for optics and such. But to each their own

I hunt with 'sporterized' Swedish Mausers and Mod 98 Mausers. It started with what I could afford, meaning a cheap, accurate rifle for hunting and took off from there. Forty-five years of hunting later, I still use them because of nostalgia, accuracy, and reliability! Old habits die hard, I have had a few newer technology rifles, mainly modified Mauser designs, but few measure up to the original.

I have a 180B for varmint and I am looking at the Poly M305 as another one but I wanna wait and see what comes of that (hopefully) 16.5" savage bush gun.

So are y'all trying to tell me that the RA XCR is an unrestricted rifle?

Gatehouse,
Why is the xcr unrestricted and the AR restricted? What makes a rifle restricted

The answers to this question and many more like it lie at the top of an unreachable mountaintop in the hands of the most moronic reverse-natural-selected Canadian Government bureaucrats ever appointed to a post.

Pretty much sums it up.

Apparently they picked up a copy of 1996GUN DIGEST and made all the scary looking guns restricted or prohibited.

XCR's, Swiss Arms, etc weren't around at the time.

I think this would raise a few eyebrows in the woods. ;-)

A bubba'd SKS D?

SKS are not restricted either.

Looks more Tacticool than bubba'd to me.

ohno

I believe Bubba'd means permanent alterations to an otherwise collectable rifle. An SKS D with an ATI folder stock isn't really Bubba'd.

Now grind off the bayonet lug and screw on some rails you'd make bubba proud.

When you mix a wooden foreguard with a plastic pistol grip folding stock, it reeks of Bubba.

well, I'm pretty sure after my trip to Mexico for my sisters wedding, I'm going to get am M14s and kit it out and use the saved $1000 on ammo to practice and hunt with (the Dutch in me has decided on this matter).

and Gatehouse, I love that 'HULK SMASH' image you've gone now, totally awesome!

You know what you get when two Dutchmen see penny laying on the sidewalk?
