my family has some acreage around canim lake and I have only been there a few times for recreational use and was thinking about going out there next season for a hunting trip. The area looks really promising but I am not sure what type of game there is in the area. Any help on the area is appreciated

Put your moose LEH in for there...it's a good area and plenty of game, but it can be a bit busy as well, though certainly not a gong show by any means.

You might even see some badgers as you drive past via 100 mile house.
Not that they are game animals, just as a matter of interest.

That area is known for Booner chipmunks. Better trade yer 7mm in for something with a bit more knock down power.

Mu 5-1
Canim Lake - Bridge Lake
Access from Hwy 97 from 70 Mile, via Green Lake road; Hwy 24 through Lone Butte; the Eightythree road and, from 100 Mile House, the Canim Lake system of roads. Good Mule deer in the southeast section of 5-1 and fair moose and deer throughout the rest of this super hunting unit.

I grew up near the east end of Canim lake on the south side, very near Canim/Mahood falls. There are some good mule deer area around to be sure, some moose (LEH only), and more whitetail sightings all the time. A good general area is off the Bowers Lake FSR that eventually can connect to Clearwater (camp 2 road on that end) There are many ways to get lost in between however, so be carefull, have a good map, and be well prepared before heading out that way. There is also lots of wild area off the north side of the lake, and out towards Hendrix Lake as well. Oh, and MANY of the local roads are gazetted gravel roads even though they have industrial road numbers and KM markers - just a heads up.

The north side of Canim to Lac la Hache holds some good hunting. Decent access and lots of area. I don't know about the booner 'munks in this area, I'm told these ones are migratory.
