View Full Version : How to post pictures on HBC

I see lots of people over the years asking "How do I post pics here?", and I did a quick search, and there's no thread, so I'll start one.
If there IS a thread/sticky on how-to, Mods can delete this post.
(Probably get deleted anyway, knowing my track record, but I digress.)

There are many ways to skin a cat, but here are my two preferred ones.

Firstly, I prefer to use Photobucket at Photobucket.com
On that page, upper left, choose JOIN NOW! and follow the steps, where you'll choose a user name and password, and will probably have to activate the account from your email address. They will send you a letter with a link to activate, if I remember correctly.
Once you have an account, log in and look at your page. Upper centre of the page will have a big, friendly blue button that says UPLOAD IMAGES AND VIDEOS.
Click on that puppy, and find where, in your computer or cam the photos or videos you want are, and double click on it. That will take you right back to the Photobucket page, where it will show your uploading progress.
Once uploaded, it will give you the option of giving the pic/vid a name, and a brief description. Do that if you like, then click "SAVE AND RETURN TO ALBUM"
Album is your collection of photos.
Now to post this pic in the body of your story, find that picture in your album, and put your mousie-cursor dealie over it.
A little drop-down box well, drops down, and gives you four mai options.
The LAST option is IMAGE CODE. It will say IMG Code.
RIGHT CLICK on that code. It will start with this [IMG]http:blahblahblah
And choose COPY.
Now that little sucker is loaded up in your mouse.
Go back to the text box in your HuntingBC window/page where you're making up your lies, and put your cursor where you want the pic to be and LEFT CLICK. That will give you the little flashing vertical Capital I thingie that tells you where the text will show up if you type now.
RIGHT CLICK, and choose paste.
That's it, your photo is there!
If you like, then down below your typing box, choose the silver PREVIEW POST button, to see how fantastic it's gonna look.
If you like it, hit SUBMIT. If you don't then do a little more editing, and try the PREVIEW button again.
That's it.

The second way to me is less preferable, since it takes up storage space and bandwidth on the HBC server, but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway:

To Upload pics to HuntingBC, look at the logo on the upper-left hand corner of your screen.

Below that logo there are four words. Home : Forum : Gallery : Links

Click your little mousy thingie on "Gallery".

That will take you here: http://www.huntingbc.ca/photos/

On that page you will see a main window with a bunch of thumbnail pics in it. JUST above that window is a narrow bar, with links in it. The links are:

Home (http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/../photos/index.php) · Search (http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/../photos/search.php) · Profile (http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/../photos/member.php?uid=5799) · Upload Photos (http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/../photos/uploadphoto.php)

Click on, you guessed it: Upload Photos. That will take you to THIS page:

http://www.huntingbc.ca/photos/uploadphoto.php

...where you will see your username, and a bunch of little boxes.
The important one is the one with the silvery "BROWSE" button beside it.
Click on the browse button, and go to where the picture is stored in your computer. If you like, you can connect your camera or trail cam, and take it straight off there. Once you have that found, then add a titile or description if you wish, and hit the silvery "UPLOAD/SUBMIT" button at the bottom.
If this does not work, read the guidelines at the bottom of the page.
Quite often the file is too big, and the site won't accept it, and you'll have to re-size it. That's another thread ;-)

Hope this helps. If I've gotten anything wrong, ya'll, let me know.
Cheers

There's a "sticky" in "Bugs and Glitches" and all you need to know!

Great addition EMC!!!

Maybe we can make it a sticky in the pictures and video group????

One thing is when you post the pictures, DO NOT post them side by side, post them on top of each other. That way we do not have to move the slider back and forth to veiw the pictures. That is a PITA.

Make sure you post the picture below your words, not at the end, other wise your sentance will be broken up.

Cheers

That is awesome EMC.
I wish you had this on here when I was learning. It musta taken me 4 hours and about 10 attempts to get it just right the first time.
Good job!!

Thx for the positive input guys, it's much appreciated, and I'm glad to help.
Apparently there's a "Sticky", but the Search engine on this site software blows, cuz I couldn't find it.

How would you go about posting multiple pictures in you thread (photo Bucket) & how do you get the youtube video to be embedded in the thread?
Thanks

I've never had any luck with this site's search function. Always comes up no matches or the keywords you put in are too common. One of the reasons it drives me nuts when people get mad at you for asking questions and refer you to the search function. I have better luck by googling huntingbc followed by whatever topic I'm looking for.
