Hi to everyone.........

I've just registered today and looking forward in posting.
I hunt mainly ducks and geese (canadas, and snows).I go only ONCE for deer , if I kill one it's ok if not I continue hunting Waterfowl.

What I ca'nt pass is Caribou , I hunt it in the winter at James Bay Qc, it's a long ride but it worth it..........

I have noticed that not too many waterfowl hunters in that forum goes for diving ducks , you have one of the most beautifull and rare duck called Harlequin or Harlie maybe how you call them.........

Is there any reason that I mostly see hunters after puddle ducks rather than divers? Is it hard to hunt the sea coast ?

If there is not too many hunters after those ducks , I maybe could travel and hunt them from a duck boat.

Do you need to ask permissions to have access at those places and to whom??????

Am sorry in asking all those questions , you see am completly on the eastern part of Canada called QUEBEC.

Welcome Angio. We hunt puddle ducks because we can get to them easier and cheaper than hunting sea ducks, and they taste better ( at least in my opinion) I agree on Caribou, great meat! Just had some steaks of Mountain caribou last night. Haven't got out to PQ yet for caribou - someday though.

You know what Tanya, last night I had too Caribou , so tasty..........mmmmmmmmm.
I agree too that puddle ducks are much more tastier than divers, but if you eat only the breasts they are ok.
One of the reason I was inquiring about those divers, is that I want to make trip at Vancouver specialy to hunt the only duck missing in my collection that is HARLEQUIN .
Maybe some of you can direct me on which area (not the exact place) I could find some ..........

Thank you Angio, that was my mountain caribou from the Yukon.

Ducks are closed here now and will open on Thanksgiving weekend in October. As for harlies, some of the mainland guys would be able to help you more than I as we live on Vancouver Island. I don't believe I've seen one here myself, but then I don't hunt the ocean-front often. If you look through some of the posts here in the waterfowl section you'll likely find someone that could direct you in regards to harlies. Good luck!

You’ll see some on the road too……..the hunt began 2750 kms from Montreal .Temps in the -25c, with no wind it was ok!
