This was my Archery moose from 07. It was a great hunt. Perfect weather for calling in Bulls. Started on the october 1st. went out with Dave a buddy of mine. We had bulls coming in everyday. I called one in for Dave on the second day and he took it at 30 yards. (sorry no pic of his moose). He hunted with me the next day, I should have had one but had a mix up with my arrow rest, long story short. I pulled back and had no arrow on my string. He walked away and I paniced for an arrow. I will never make that mistake again.
On the 4th day, dave headed into town to work so i was on my own. Hunted the morning with no action. Decided to go back to the spot I had come in the 1st day. my father dropped me off at the bottom of the road. I began to walk, not more than five minutes up the bush road. I was rounding a slow corner. I Looked up the road to see a good sized paddle. He heard me walking but did not see me. I hugged the alders. Wasn't sure what to do at first. Decided to grunt since it was a larger bull. He reacted immediatly. coming down the small road swaying his rack. I had an arrow nocked. He was at 30 yards coming straight towards me. He came to 15 yards. still coming, looking for a fight. I had to do something. I then stepped away from the alders I was pressed up against and drew back. He lifted his head, looked at me. The proceeded with his agressive display. I was shaking in my boots. I held my site on his chest waiting for a good shot. He then angled towards to edge of the road. In a split decision I decided to tuck one in infront of his shoulded. since he was at 12 yards. The arrow disapeared into his chest, he spun and ran up the road. I stopped him again at 30 with a grunt and put one right behind his shoulded. I was very confident about the second shot. He didn't go more that 50 yards. I walked back and met up with my father. He had also had a close call that evening. We walked in and found him piled up. on further inspection we found that he had been in a fight earlier that day, he had obviously lost since he didn't have any cows with him. and lots of scars to boot. He had a puncture in his diafram from a horn. explains why he was so agressive. He was looking to kick my ass. Here are the picks. He had a 44 inch spread and a huge body on him. Great eating moose for his size.
