im planning a sheep hunt, i was wondering if someone could tell me where i could go to shoot a sheep, is there any in the okanagan or kootneys.
what kind of gun should i use
if i am reloading for this caliber how do i do that?
what supplies should i bring, sent cover? sheep pee. sheep in heat?
how do i tell if a sheep is legal or illegal?
if i shoot one, do i dress it like a bear or a moose?
how much does it cost to have a sheep mounted im willing to spend about 400 dollars on a mount for my sheep.
thnx.

There is a couple here you can shoot. Just gotta be really really quick about it. Anygun will work, no need for camo, calls or anything else really.

Prince George rural areas hold many 'pockets' of sheep, generally ranging in between barbwire fences. All sheep are legal.

I don't know if 'sheep in heat' scent works, but do not wear rubber boots & velcro, they will spook everytime!

I would dress it like a bear, so you'll need the bear hide first.

It doesn't matter what rifle you use, as long as you are shooting a TSX. Even then, use the lightest possible bullet.

If you need any more info, feel free to pm me.

On GOS sheep in the EK and around Spences are the closest if you're from the OK. Currently there's no GOS in Region 8 which is a story for another day.

Lots of people who can 'point you' in the right direction. Basically anywhere you find a GOS there's sheep. In the EK where you find road closures you'll often find sheep at the end of them. Most of the sheep and sheep hunting happens in proximity to national parks and mines.

The best thing is to do some scouting this summer and find the sheep for yourself. Lots of people who know 'where' the sheep are as in the MU but the rams find their own little holes.

Give Frank Simpson at Simpson Stone Sheep a call...he has nothing to do in the off season and would love to point you in the right direction.

No wait, better yet call the Kreykees (sp?) up in Tatogga a buzz. If they hang up, be persistent and keep calling them.

I have been told they specialize in resident sheep hunting in the east koots. They will set you up with all the info you need.

I also have heard that some M.Moss guy does cheap work for HBC members ;)

Guys will help you out on this site but you need to rethink your questions. They like it better if you have done some self research first.

Should call the neighbour then too - she's probably one of the most friendly people around.

Don't bother calling Tatogga looking for the Creykes, they have no connection to Tatogga Lake Resort.

If you want to talk to Creykes, you have to go across the lake, up the mountain, straight up the ridge, follow the Valley down to your left. They usually have a spike camp there.

Just check google earth. You can see the sheep if you look real close. Its hard to tell if they are legal or not, so adjust your view angle until you can see if they break the nose. If you have a real eagle eye you can age them, but Id say your odds of being accurate in aging them is around 63% to 27%. So you will have a 63% chance to be able to pinpoint the exact ram you want. These odds arent too bad considering you will have 0% chance being told where to go on these forums. Once you have successfully found your ram via google earth, there is a 50% chance that there is a beauty horse trail right to the rams location. That being said, there is a 100% chance that you can locate the trail with, again, google earth.

Once you make all the plans and get to the horse trail, that leads to your ram, there is a very good chance you will run into one of the outfitters guides that is working with a client in the area. I havent researched the exact odds on this, but there is a more than likely chance they will have extra horses and be delighted to escort you to your ram in waiting. If its a book ram, they will most likely want to help you get it safely out of the mountains as well, so you can hurry home to tell your friends where you got it. If it is not a book ram, i would be shocked if they didnt just lead you to one. Why the hell not hey?

Theres nothing to it really. Take pictures for us, and let us know how it goes.
