Any lynx hunters out there? I'm doing an environmental job, monitoring the effects of a seismic project on a population of boreal caribou. The place is infested with lynx! Obviously I can't do any hunting. Except with my camera! Thought I would share these pics with you...

Very Cool! I usually see quite a few at work. most kittens with mom was 6 and then 5. I have a couple of good size toms touring around visiting their scent spots after every snow so they have been pretty busy last couple of days:wink: Of course I like to add a little of me on them when i 'm passing one just to piss them off:-D
Very curious if this report is also focusing on the larger wolf packs that are using these seismic lines and other winter roads to access traditional caribou winter range. I have been keeping a journal over the last 3 winters in my field. I had been seeing herds of up to 39 caribou at one time. The past 2 winters numbers have dropped huge? Could be they are wintering in other areas though I've had logging and oil/gas activity and the wolf population has really increased. Last spring I had 3 bull caribou hanging around my plant nothing since until last week where I had 3 bulls show up for half a day. Couldn't tell if they were the same ones from last spring as they had dropped their antlers.
Thanks for the post.

Very nice pics. I have only ever seen one lynx, and it was quite by chance. I was driving down a busy highway and spotted the cat sitting on it's haunches in front of a rodent den not 50 yards from the road. We stopped and watched it until it caught something and then walked back into the bush. I believe it was a very large cat, and while sitting it looked to be about 3 feet tall. Really cool!

Very nice!
Once, I got to watch a mother lynx teach her two young to hunt squirrels at close range for 10 minutes......made my whole moose hunting trip worthwhile.

Nice pics Vic. I've been seeing a couple this winter too. Haven't seen any wolves yet. No pics either.
