Not really a ton of magic - 99.65% of what I done here on the digi file, could have been done in a darkroom with film. Mainly just a ton of Burn-n-Dodge. I also used a digi photo filter (sepia) over the B&W file, to give it an 'Old World' type of feel.

The posted pic doesn't do it any justice.... I've just recieved a printed proof and it's WOWZERS!

But it would probably be the right thing to do.

Wish I could remember the name of the breed (???).

Spectacular photo. Only thing that would have made it better is acouple mally"s laying between him and the gun.

Agreed!
The pic was quickly composed at the onslaught of the evenings hunt with exactly that in mind (hence the framing).... but all our birds came in pretty much @ the last 15 minutes of legal shooting. IIRC, we went home with 3 and TOTALLY missed an opportunity on a forth. It was unfortunate that when we had birds, photo op's were gone (on camera flash would've KILLED the photo IMO). That said, it would be cool to go back there with "birds in hand" and fill that little spot in the pic that begs for a couple, and shoot again.

Also; I've always had difficulty in seperating photo work from hunting... You can't do both without compromising the other and Hunting always takes the front seat------> It's just the right thing to do!

Thanks for your comments!
Cheers!

Ruger Red Label 4066?
Looks to be a narrower gauge so I would say 20 Gauge, 26", 3" Chmbr? I dont know a lot about guns but that would be my guess.

Pretty darn fine, comin' from a fella that doesn't know guns!

It's in fact a Red Label, 3" 12ga. The tubes are 28".

Close, but you don't win the prize.
And this now closes the contest.

Hey!
Who knows what kind of gun is in the pic?

Looks a little like a Beretta Silver Pigeon.

Great shot! So far I've limited edits to what is innate in Aperture (mostly white balance, exposure & cropping), this summer will spend some time learning Elements (unless not enough rainy days), your shot is just more motivation to do so.

See 3 posts earlier (#30).

I haven't looked at Aperture... No clue what's in there.

Actually 100% female (non fella) and since you're such a photographer take a photo that says 12 gauge on your gun there. That is a 20 gauge (obviously by the size of the barells relative to the the gun) and clearly I know more about your gun than you do. Are you even feeding it the right ammo? Or are you going to say I'm right? 28 or 26 inches wont hurt, but the wrong ammo could mean no duck surprise!!! Pay Jordanna the respect!!! Now what is my prize? A free photo shoot of 30 pictures? Clearly you are a photographer and not a 12 gauge hunter. Then you will find out I am 100% female.

That is a 20 gauge (obviously by the size of the barells relative to the the gun) WRONG! I guess it is not so obvious and clearly I know more about your gun than you do NOPE!. Are you even feeding it the right ammo YES!? Or are you going to say I'm right NOPE, cuz you are wrong!? 28 or 26 inches wont hurt, but the wrong ammo could mean no duck surprise HE Dropped 3 that night with a 12ga and his 12 ga ammo:)!!! Pay Jordanna the respect!!! Now what is my prize? A free photo shoot of 30 pictures? Clearly you are a photographer and not a 12 gauge hunterGUTSY!!. Then you will find out I am 100% female PICTURES PLEASE!.

WOW! you are 100% wrong! you clearly do not know more about his gun then he does! It is a 12ga, and is has a 28"barrel. I shot some trap with that gun and I used my 12ga trap loads in this gun.

And your prize... you get to eat some humble Pie!

But you are right with the Ruger Red Label!

Then, not ten minutes later...you post this thread?

OH Jordana; Why is it that I feel that you already know my phone number AND that the only way of you becoming a woman, would be a prison stint.

Now THAT would be a deserved session of 30 pics. If in any case it happens, CALL ME and make sure that I'm on your approved "guest list".
