That's what I thought at first too, but his nose looks somewhat shorter than most lab pups i've seen so I thought it might be a cross, that's why I asked..

in those pictures he is 8 wks old.

when you purchase a lab from cedarbrae (jim and tracy) they ask you what you want from them, and in the end give you the closest and best they can.

he fits the conformation we asked for. a male not tooo huge but with a big blocky head. i think lab's look better with a square head, rather then what you noted - the narrow skinny face
