I live in the EK and hunt the Todd hunter, Chauncey creek and Iron creek water sheds. They are all beautiful areas, but not sure that Todd hunter needs to be closed still, guys pound that road all day long from the middle of june until the last day of august. To me that sort of defeats the purpose of being a road closure.

it is in place to protect the game that heads there late in the season or after a heavy snowfall.....

If they want the road closed to protect animals, as you stated, then they should deactivate the road and stop logging it during late fall and winter.

The road into chauncey creek was deactivated years ago, but they started logging parts of that valley about 4years ago.

The main road into Iron creek only goes in about 2-3km then ends, the only options after that is to go straight up hill or hike the creek bed 2.5-4km before you start to get into the better part of the valley.

We Jelly,
You finally did it. I am more confused by this thread than any other in my life. It's a new benchmark for you!! Congratulations.
Two pages later and still I have no idea what I just read.

Some old roads but maybe still closed, check with MOE b4 hunting.

Quite a few years ago we checked with MOE on the Chaunsey/Todd Hunter closure and were told that it was closed. So we set up our wall tent along the edge of the road leading up Todd Hunter. Around 4 or 5 the nexy morning we woke up to the sound of diesel pickups dring right past us, almost thru our front door. It seems that the road up one othe adjoining areas had been washed out anfd forestry had opened the area to the loggers so they could bypass the washout. Damn good thing we didn't set up more on the road or we would have been moving in the wee hours. The communication between different government bodies is not very good at times.
