Moose2,

I can't remember ever seeing a meat pole looking so neat and tidy. It's hanging a bit low but is sure looks good.

Ha that is a great picture!!! Me thinks that bear would be hanging rather than sitting on the pole!!

killman - that is, without a doubt, the sweetest setup that I've seen. If it's able to be enclosed at night it'd be perfect. http://www.forumsextreme.com/images/sHa_thumb3.gif

We don't always take a meat pole picture... these are from a few years ago...

Ya it worked good, I backed it into the shade and put a tarp over the whole thing with the ends open for the air to blow through. Kept it quite cool even when it warmed up a little during the day.

It was a once in a lifetime experience having that cub hangout by our meat pole for a week. Seen him everyday, tried scarying him a way several times..we even talked with CO's on the phone but they weren't gonna bother driving in to the bush 20 kms for a non life threating issue.

We figured its mother must have been mistaken as a boar or a dry sow and shot..or hit by a logging truck. This little guy was around 30-40 pounds and chattered his teeth and climbed the nearest tree when ever we were around..we weren't interested in putting him down so we left him be.

A day or two with our little friend..after a week there wasn't enough left to be worth bringing home..not to mention it could of been infected with a parasite or something.

Here's one of our Christian Valley hanging poles from the 90's.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v145/BCBOY/Hunting%20Pics/img016a.jpg

Nowadays, we debone and pack most of our game out on our backs so our game poles don't see much camera action. But we still manage to take the odd photo around camp.

It is very surprising on how many meat poles are a few feet off the ground at your camp ????.

If you are in bear country and you think it will never happen to you well think again...

I thought that after many years of hanging meat up in our camp at a low level and never having a problem with bears coming into take it in all years hunting at our camp ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,WRONG ,it happened this year we had a Griz come in around midnight to try taking out WT deer...

I learned my lessen never again will I hang meat at a low level ,we now have a meat pole 30 feet off the ground...
