You're in the same boat as me, my half lab is now 8 weeks old and they sure are a handful.

You gonna train him for birding?

yeah he will be a grouse dog as we dont hunt ducks or geese. I was also reading about using dogs to find sheds too. They can e hard to find some times

Hi Reese and hunter, my partner in Kamloops hunts grouse with his wolf/husky cross, when we gets a kill, he tosses the heart to the dog, and the dog never misses a bird. Enjoy Reese he is a great pup. We miss him. Quinzzy says hi with a hug and a kiss, and a belly rub.

Great looking pup. You are going to have a blast with him I'm sure.

Everytime I see a post of someone getting a new pup, I want another one.

Howdy, Adorable pup! I have a pup myself, an 8 month old border-collie hound that I'd like to train to find scat. I'd also be interested in learning how to train to find sheds.

On another note- I'm new on here and new to the area (Lillooet) and I was hoping to start a couple of new threads (or forum) on hunting around Lillooet, and hunting for sheep, scat collection and wildlife dogs etc. Any advice on how I can start threads? Thanks!

Super cute lil dude! My chocolate is just about 3 years. I have trained him for attack licking and cleaning up behind my 5 year old and 9 year old boys. These dogs are god’s gift to families and hunters alike. Enjoy they grow so fast. We got ours from White Robin Kennels just outside of Princeton. Watch that pup like a Hawk… Ours ate a sock at 9 months of age; we later found it in his crate (Yuck). Hand feed him, put food in the bowl and take away right from the moment you get to feeding him (makes for a gentler dog).
Oh ya you"ll need a lead (rope) whistle, bumpers and a whole lot of patience. Just keep it simple. Train the basics first; retrieving is in that dog’s blood. Don’t be afraid to use an animated voice as it seems to gain a better response than our (man) natural deep athoritive voice. Get excited, give lots of praise, and use praise not food to get your response.
Congratulations on your new pup!!:-D

I've also got a chocolate, he's also trained to lick people to death, he's a professional sleeper and his tail never stops going, enjoy.... they are incredible dogs if you treat them right.

very cute pup seeing that picture made me want to go out and get another one. Just lost my chocolate last fall.Had here whistle and hand signal trained for both ducks and upland birds. They are very smart animals and want nothing, but to please there master.Don't listen to some of the people that say don't train your dog till he's a year old, start from day one .You'll now when hes had enough, just start slow and when they start to wander and loose interest, stop.

It's funny how they don't like bath time, but they'll go swimming in any water no matter how cold. Some follow up pictures are in order. :-D
