I took my son and his friend out this afternoon for some plunking and hare, it sure was a beautiful day out there. The boys fired of 30 rounds or so at some targets and they were doing fine then let my son fire the 30/30 to get used to it and then we were off to do some walking. About 10 minutes in I saw this hare about 40 feet into the bush he was sure happy to finally take an animal. Went to take a picture and of course the batteries were dead and I completely forgot about the cell camera until we were out at the truck. Forgot to mention there was a ton of coyote sign up there I am going to go up there and try to cull the herd.

Good for him -- he's way ahead of me. I'm almost 60 and no hares yet! (almost no hairs either!)

So fun. Can't wait till my son gets a bit older! Used to have such good times hunting with my grandpa around that age

 I must admit that at first I had a rude thought. But my better sense(s) took over.

Congratulations to your son! It'll be a fine addition to the stew pot.

I wish that we, here on the Island, coud go out and "cull the herd", but there aren't any herds to be culled...

Right on, looks like he's a pretty good shot too:cool: and the competion begins:biggrin: My boys love shooting 22's I pick up life size coyote and grouse archery targets and set them up at different distances and let them fly at it. Really helps them understand bullet drop with open sights my youngest shoots the coyote tagert at 100yds and puts about 70% of them in the boiler room, he's 7.

Congrats to the young fellow! I've been trying to get out hare hunting all winter but work hasn't been co-operating very well with me.
