dog question

I have a 1 year old black lab rotti cross named trigger, A friend of mine has got me hooked on duck hunting just wondering if it is still possibly to train Trigger to retrieve and is it more difficult being that she is crossed.
She is not gun shy, and she has flushed me out grouse but retrieving ducks is a hole new world.

Did she retrieve the grouse ? How much drive does she have to retrieve ? Some dogs are happy to fetch the ball 5 or 6 times then that's enough. A dog that quits 2 hours into a decoy hunt isn't as much fun to hunt over.
Being crossbred isn't the end of the world, it's more about your individual dog and how much she wants to hunt. If she has enough desire, she can be trained.

My son had a Lab Mastiff cross that fetched ducks no problem, just wouldn't pick the up by the body.
