Dear Mr. Arnold:

In recognition of the scheduling and planning challenges facing sheep hunters with LEH authorizations in Region 6 (Skeena), the Ministry has advanced the application deadline for the Mount Edziza, Atlin, and Tatshenshini sheep draws to February 5, 2010. This date aligns with the early Spatsizi draw initiated in 2007.

This change is not advertised in the 2009-2010 LEH synopsis, consequently there will be hunters in the province that will not be aware of this move. This information has now been posted on the Fish and Wildlife website (http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/fw/) and the Ministry requests that the British Columbia Wildlife Federation forward the notice to their members throughout the province to notify hunters of this change. The notice is available online at http://wwwd.env.gov.bc.ca/fw/wildlife/hunting/resident/docs/skeenadraw.pdf.

Two Skeena Sheep hunts have not been included in this early draw. Zone A of 6-19 and Zone C of 6-25 have been intentionally left out of this transition as the Ministry is exploring other options to remove harvest barriers in both of these zones.

Thank you for your cooperation in assisting the Fish and Wildlife Branch to notify hunters of the 2010 early mountain sheep draw for Region 6.

Sincerely,

Ian Hatter

Spatsizi should be well over 100 right now.

I thought it was proposed to go to 120 this year. Not really suprised it only went to 80. Thats typical of MOE.

Good to see - eyes must be going on me. Should be able to harvest 70% of the AAH then.

Just wondering if anyone can tell me if the
Mount Edziza tag is a early or late season hunt? I have time off in Aug to hunt but dont want to put in for a tag if the sheep arent there till later in the season. Rather see someone else get it then waist a tag.

cheers

I talked to my fathers friend who has hunted it. He hunted it early in the season and was successful. Thats was close to three years ago. Saw a few good rams.

You'll starve to death if you're planning on eating sheep.
