Dear Mr. Arnold:
In recognition of the scheduling and planning challenges facing sheep hunters with LEH authorizations in Region 6 (Skeena), the Ministry has advanced the application deadline for the Mount Edziza, Atlin, and Tatshenshini sheep draws to February 5, 2010. This date aligns with the early Spatsizi draw initiated in 2007.
This change is not advertised in the 2009-2010 LEH synopsis, consequently there will be hunters in the province that will not be aware of this move. This information has now been posted on the Fish and Wildlife website (http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/fw/) and the Ministry requests that the British Columbia Wildlife Federation forward the notice to their members throughout the province to notify hunters of this change. The notice is available online at http://wwwd.env.gov.bc.ca/fw/wildlife/hunting/resident/docs/skeenadraw.pdf.
Two Skeena Sheep hunts have not been included in this early draw. Zone A of 6-19 and Zone C of 6-25 have been intentionally left out of this transition as the Ministry is exploring other options to remove harvest barriers in both of these zones.
Thank you for your cooperation in assisting the Fish and Wildlife Branch to notify hunters of the 2010 early mountain sheep draw for Region 6.
Sincerely,
Ian Hatter
