My g/f was on her way home from work tonight and just above the Shell sation on pacific way in Kamloops a monster 3X3 crossed casully in front of her. She works in forestry and sees tons of deer so I can take her word on it. She also said it was bigger than the one I shot this year:icon_frow. Is it not a little late for bucks to still have antlers this time of year? There sure are a lot of town bucks in Kamloops. Saw 5 bucks together in August on Summit drive and 3 were definite monsters! Guess they will die of old age unless they get hit by a car?

The earlyest I have ever found a fresh shed was boxing day. The latest I have seen a buck with his rack was late march these are whitetail deer,I think mule deer tend to hold on to them a little longer though.

On monday I seen Two 3 point bucks outside of wholesale sports, they crossed the road towards Lordco. Pretty Funny to see them hanging out near a hunting store.:-D

2 seasons in a row now while hunting Spring Turkey we have run into very large herds of elk. 40+ each time. We saw a number of bulls with 3pts or less. This is in mid April. Confused me a bit. Do the small bulls keep their antlers until the new ones start growing?

Elk are alot different than deer. Huge bulls tend to loose the antlers first.Could be as early as march I have herd of bulls dropping in feb. From my experience I would say april is the month for elk horn to drop.

Thanks for the info. The past two years we have seen between 10-15 3pts or less each trip but no big bulls. Makes sense now.

The time RME will start loosing there antlers are anywhere from the last week of Feb and on into the last week of March and sometimes some bulls will still have there antlers on at the beginning of April..
Deer have already started to loose there antlers ,I got a pic from my trail cam of a buck that had already lost one of his antlers it was just before Christmas time ,pictures don't lie as you can see ...
