This morning we took a friend's puppy out for it's first time. Andy didn't hunt but Benny dragged his teenage butt out and got in on the action along with John and I.

Awesome looking Sprig, hoping to get one before the season is up but the clock is ticking. I have to run over to Vancouver in the next weekend or two to grab some more dog food. So my hunting days are numbered.

Definitely looks like the ducks are picking up in that field compared to the last time we were in there. :mrgreen: How did the dog make out with the shotguns and retrieving?

Yeah, much better than the last time we were in that spot for sure. Lots of birds a half hour too early though. And, lots of wary widgeon. Later on the singles and doubles all wanted to go to the middle fields, so we called it bacon, and came home.

The pup was very interested in the birds and was sky watching. Cooper had no problem with the guns at all. Wasn't quite sure about what to do, but followed Rayne a couple times, and then Andy threw a duck out for him to bring back. We held Rayne and sent Cooper after a cripple, now that was funny. I guess it smacked him with a wing or foot and he was dancing around and around the duck afraid to go after it again. With some encouragement he finally did pick it up though.

Looks great Tanya! Thats a real pretty drake pintail. We haven't got 1 this season! We still have a chance though...:twisted:
