Shot what I thought was a big mallard yesterday, weighed in at 2.84lbs/1306g. I really have no "yardstick" to compare against though, I weighed some bigger birds awhile back and they where all pretty close to 2.75lbs, anyone else weigh their birds on a good scale?

Only thing i ever weighed was a Canada Goose it came up to 9.87lbs gutted and cleaned

It never occured to me to do the same for ducks but its a very good idea. Still got 22 days... lol

I weighed mallards a few years ago and they were 2.2 - 2.5 lbs. I bet a 2.75er is a huge bird.

Shot a honker of a goose and it weighed 13.75 lbs. More than a pound shy of the "fabled 15 pounder."

In all my years of duck hunting I never came across a bird that weighed more thwn 3.5 pounds - never.

A mallard that comes in at 3 lbs or over is a chubby duck for sure!

That's about as big as your going to get. How are you going to cook this one.

my biggest mallard weighed in at just under 4lbs, but we think it was some weird cross because it had white and black feathers in the head and some white across the chest as well.

we were thinking the same thing as that ,,it was out in aggaziz, the duck was with a big group of northern though, he was not the lead duck but very close to it.
