yeah the young one's r better eating for sure...i have a 46 inch bull from 4 yrs ago when i had a draw..no where near as good.
the story for the young one goes like this..my brother and i were out hunitng using the quad to get back into our hiking area. i dropped him off at the top of the ridge and went back down to cover to lower south side. we use GPS radio's to stay in touch. he calls me says he see's 4 bucks together..early sept 21/09 i move back up under his position with a small ridge between us. he calls again after he spooked them into running, 20 minutes later them come past my position, but to far to shoot about 700 yards..i could see a 5x5 with my spotting scope and 2 4x4 1 2x2. i moved down under them as fast as i could, but as i got to the end of the ridge, they stopped in some alder brush and i coulnt make them out very well, now within 450 yards. after waiting for 10 miutes they bust running, another quad moved in on us and spooked them out. down across the opening they go and across the old road. a few minutes later bang bang bang 3 shots ring out, my heart sank...i make my way back up to the qaud about a mile away, and make my way out..a truck hunter took one of the 4x4's. i called my brother to tell him it wasnt me, and made my way up to get him when this young bull shows himself about 350 yards off, with the aid of the spotting scope it was a 2 point, and the assistance of a fallen log and my 7mm mag..1 shot threw the neck as he was looking at me and the rest is history.

That will be a good eating bull. Besides I'd rather eat a young moose than a mule deer any day!.:-D

That's a great story. I bet your heart sank a bit when that hunter shot the 4x4 knowing you just barely missed them. I'm sure all those emotions were quickly swept away after shooting an immature! Nice work.

yeah it was a silver lining story for me for sure..i would by far rather have the moose than another muley, as immature are alot harder to find.
i did get a new camera i got a JVC digital cmacorder that takes stills as well all in HDTV!! sweet pics, i just ahve to learn how to use it, as i want to start making hunting video's now as well..

I don't think that hunt could have turned out much better for you. I dedicate most of my hunting and scouting to these tender tasty young moose and if I could only take one animal a year, a spike-fork bull moose would be my choice hands down. Congratulations on a fine animal.
