Stillhunting

I finally have the pics for our 2009 hunting season so here you go. We hit region 3 for spike-fork bulls in Oct. I was seeing lots of bulls, and managed to call several in real close, including a 3x3, 3x4, and 3x5. The plan was for me to head into this meadow where I had called in a 3x4 and a big bull the previous morning, and heard a bunch of other rutting animals. I had a good feeling on the drive that morning, but that quickly changed with the wind a couple minutes down the trail. I even called the old man on the radio to say I was going to change my plan as the wind was blowing a gale right at my back. He said I had to get back into that spot with all the action, and he would be waiting on the other side if I pushed any out. I trudged on without much optimism and lit a smoke stick hoping to mask my scent a little. I slowly still hunted towards the meadow, and spotted a moose feeding fifty yards ahead of me to the left. Small bull, nice clean 2x2 with a cow and they have no idea of my presence. I got down to one knee and shouldered the 308, used my other knee as a rest and just had to wait a few seconds for him to walk into a shooting lane. When he did, I squeezed the trigger and sent 180 grains through both lungs. It was a grunt to get him out but well worth the effort, as he is even better tasting then the one I got two years ago.http://www.huntingbc.ca/photos/showphoto.php?photo=16924&limit=recent
