I have 8x42 gold rings and love em!! The only negative is they are heavier than most, but built like a tank because of it. They are tough, crystal clear, bright, and a huge field of view. I prefer 8x to the 10x, less wiggle, eye strain, and bigger exit pupil.

I have had a set now for two years and they are right there with other name brands ,I have no problems with the ones I have.

I have the 8x42 HD's and to my eyes they are the best.
As a guide, I get to compare different bino's with the clients and I have compared mine with the Big Three and to me they are right up there for clarity and brightness. As BTS says, they are built like a tank and I like the weight because I have Essential Tremor and the weight helps to hold them steady. And you cannot have a better warranry....if you needed it.
Here is a review I did on mine a couple years ago. Nothing has changed, other than I have lost the objective lens caps.

Also check out the other comments on the bino's here. Birders are a lot more picky about their glass than most hunters.
Good luck in your choice.
Cheers
