Meatheads 09 archery mulie!

This buck was showing up at the t-cam everyday at 3:30, so when my phone rang at 3:35...I says to the wife, I bet he got him...:shock:
Long story short, the bolt passed right through, scratched a lung, and the buck ran off like lightning!
I was out with the wife trying to find her a buck at the time, I couldnt make it to the stand spot to aid in the search.
With no snow, and almost no blood we decided to pick up the search at first light.
In less than 100 yards the blood trail ended :icon_frow. We spread out and just started looking (4 of us)
About 2 hours later, I find a spec of blood no bigger than a pin head, wow, at least we know he went this way..... 10 yards further I find a bed with a little blood and hair.
At this point We contact our other searchers and mention we got blood about 60 yards above buddies truck. As Im doing the knee crawl, looking for the next drop, meathead yells "there he is"
After 3 hours of searching, nearly all hope was gone, the buck was lying 15 yards from the truck :confused:.
How did you guys not smell him I asked??

Gotta like it when a wounded buck runs TO the road! I had that happen to me once afew years ago..SHot a buck in a gnarly cut block, 300 yards away, but hit him abit far back- back of the lungs...He ran quite a bit! Ran quartering towards me and then died ON the road below me!!:mrgreen:

Your buddy got himself a dandy mule buck there and with his crossbow ,not many hunters get one like that with a rifle in there life time.

thanks for all the positive replys. i take hunting very seriosly.i killed this buck knowing he might be better next year.but he had a bad injury on his front hoof foot .limping bsd also biggest buck to show up.cause of weather condition.had a great season with my friends this year filled the frezer.cant hangem on the wall when you killem to small. this one goes on the shop.
