I am trying to get rid of some old velvet on some antlers. I shot a moose 3 years ago that was in velvet and tried drying them out with the velvet on, this has worked for my deer antlers in the past, but made the moose antlers stink somthing fierce. I pulled off as much as I could but now have a set of antlers still covered in old dried up velvet. Just wondering if anybody could suggest a way to get it off. Thanks in adavnce for any suggestions.

soak in hot water and bleach for 5 min then take a scouring pad or steel wool to it.

Swear at it.... then try again.... set it down gently then kick repeatedly. If that doesn't work go back to step one. No Problem.

Your going to have to soak them for a day or so,once they re-hydrate the crap should come off.5 minutes ain`t gonna do it.

soak them in water as others have suggested for a least a day(more is better) then take a soft wire brush head with a grinder. that should get it off.
