During the 2008 hunting season i ran into this guy. These foxes are everywhere in the Houston area. they sure are curious creatures. not afraid of much either. This one sure had a nice coat on him. Anyone else have experiences with these little guys.

He/She looks like a cross between a Red fox and the Blue fox. I've seen lots of the Blue faze fox between Kitwanga and Meziadin junction.

Me thinks that the hunters may have been feeding the little blighter. We used to have foxes play around our house in Quesnel. The wife recorded a short video of them scooting about the place chasing each other up and down the bank and over the sand pile. Didn't seem too concerned about the dog unless she stood up, then they were gone in a flash.

Cool. They sure are neat to watch. We have property at Chimney Lake and there are 3 foxes on our property, one of which looks similar to that one. They are beautiful animals!

Yes 2 years ago I had one come up to me when I was riding the quad down a branch road off the 317 road. (Fort Nelson) I turned the bike off and it came right up to me then went about 25 yards down the road and laid down watching me. I'll try and post some pics of it.It didn't work ???

That is a good looking animal.
Pretty neat that you can get so close.
I don't recall seeing them listed in the regs, what is the deal as far as hunting?
Unreal pictures.

We were not feeding the fox at all. We just happened to be walking down an old trail and he jumped onto the road about 60 yards from us and just high tailed it rite to me. At first I was a little sketchy to let him be so close so i had my brother aim at him until I got my camera out. then it was all good and we both got pics next to him and he didn't even care that we where taking turns getting photos. yeah i was told from a CO that they are called a cross fox.

That is one animal not listed in the hunting regs that you can legally shoot? You can trap them. But there are no open seasons on foxes?

Use to see those back in Sask and we called them Silver Foxes , crosses between escaped Blue foxes from fur farms and local reds. Got to watch getting that close to them as foxes are like skunks and are real prone to having rabies...cute though

The second green Smithers Golf Course, one of these little buggers used to come out and steal your ball, that is if you where lucky enough to be on the green .

Exactly what I was thinking when I read the OP :-D

Great pics! Thanks for posting 'em.

It's amazing to me that some on here see cool pics like those, and the first thing they think is: "What is this guy doing wrong/illegal to get such great pics. I think I'll call hiim out on it" :-?

The foxes at Hirsch Creek Golf Course in Kitimat are notorious for stealing your golf balls. I went into the bush after one that took my $7 titleist. Upon investigation, there and were 100's of other chewed up balls in the area. We used to have foxes living on the golf course when I was growing up at the 108 as well as at the Williams Lake course.

Ive also had close encounters with them. They dont get hunted, so why should they be scraed of us?

We hunt region 6 outside of Houston every year for moose and we've seen foxes with very similar co****tion to the one in your pictures. About 4 years ago, I had one walk down the road directly toward my truck. I stopped and he kept coming toward me. When he got to my front bumper, he took two steps to the side, walked right past the side of the truck, then took two steps left and continued down the road. I whistled at him, called to him and not once did he even acknowledge that he had seen me.

Very rare to see one in the W. Kootenays, but I've been told that they are here and there though. I've yet to see one anywhere I go.

I think that is what they call a cross fox...there is one just like this one at my place that eats the dog food on the back porch every chance he gets. Will try and take a picture of him tonight.
