Leupold VX11 3-9x40

X2, great scope for that price

also I would recommend the Leupold FX3 fixed 6x42mm - hugely underrated scope

i looked at a new scope for my 270 wsm today. It is a leopould 2.5 x 10 with a 45 mm objective lens and a 30mm tube. the brightness and clarity were awesome, but so is the price. has anyone had any experience with this scope.

How does the warranty for Vortex compare with the Leo ?

and thanks for the info.

Vortex has a very simple warranty. If you have any problems, they will replace the product with no questions and no hassle.

Read up on their V.I.P. warranty at GR Outfitters.

That warranty goes with the product, too. Just in case you decide to sell. Totally transferable warranty.

Geez, I wish I was a rep for them.

If you mean me - I have a set of 8.5x50 binos and a 3-9x40 riflescope, both of which are from Vortex. Both perform very, very well.

Too bad I can't get a commission for selling their stuff...:confused:

I will second the Vortex.

I have a 3-9 40mm and on my dads moose hunt he had to use my gun because his burris Fullfeild 2 was not doing it. Not even a year old and it has fogged up. I had a fullfeild 2 that fogged up as well and I know one other that has done the same thing.

Leupold if you have money you want to burn but Vortex Viper if you want to save a bunch of money and get just as good of a scope.

BW, have you tested your scope for repeatability in the adjustments? Example clicking up 20 clicks and back down 20 between shots and repeat. Ive heard the Vortex dont track well.

Hmm :-? not what I like to hear .... I just bought a Fullfeild 2 with my Tikka . Hope mine doesn't fog .
How is the Burris warranty to deal with when they do fog ?

Hey Islandeer, another vote for the Vortex line . I have heard nothing but good things from many many people .
Another great scope in your price range is the Zeiss Conquest .

I think this is the best you can get for a little bit more money.

Iv got a burris fullfield II 3x9x40 that I use every year on my Winchester featherweight in 270, after the sight in, I haven't touched it in 10 years and is the best scope I have ever looked threw especially near dawn/dusk 95% light transmission, in fact I liked it so much I bought the same but in nickle to mount on my remmy mod seven XCR camo 300 WSM and have no problem with it except for the windage adjustments on the bases. But it seems that vortex is coming on strong in most to all reviews from what I have read

Just out of curiosity, how does the Leopold VX3 perform? I'd like to know because I just bought one and put it on my 30-06.

Gotta admit - I haven't tried that yet. I do plan to spend a day at the range soon and that will be one of the things that i try.
