While out chasing mule deer, I was on the track of a buck which joined a doe track. I followed it for sometime when I came across this. I couldn't decide what caused it as there was only one track leaving in the fresh snow, that of a cat but I thought it to be a tad small for a cougar.

Couriousity getting the better of me, I walked in on the same spot today and I got a short look at a smaller cougar as it snuck out of the area. Here was todays scene. you can see the eye of the deer peaking out of the newly covered over meal after the cougar had its fill.

It had been bedded down just off of the kill, as it watched me approach before leaving. The area around the head was all smoothed out as to make me think it had spent a fair bit of time feeding on the deer.
