First Blacktail. (Sea to Sky)

I am very happy to report that on Saturday Nov 28 I took my first Blacktail! We were watching a couple of does feed on some branches through the binos when my buddy said "Theres a buck!" I quietly chambered a round in my old 30-06 and took a long careful aim at the kill zone. (It felt like hours!) I fired from about 60 yds, and put the 150 grain bullet through a 3" space between 2 birch trees, smack dab into his right lung. He ran about 4 yds and fell down stone cold dead. We cleaned him on the spot and carried him to the truck, and celebrated with a few ice cold beers. Big thanks to my hunting partner Albafly, he helped with the dirty work, also a first time for him. We ended the day with a bottle of scotch and a seared backstrap with caramelized onion gravy, roasted garlic potatoes and butternut squash. A green salad was added for good measure.

A day to remember for the rest of my life, Albafly, your turn next!!

It really was a sweet day! One that we will remember for a long time! Congrats scoopy, a great shot, dropped dead. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole process, and the beers and whisky after!

Nice one. I would have been very happy with that. I spotted a monster up there as well on that day. Hoofs the size of cattle, the ground shook as he pounded his way up the trail after he got a good look at me. I should have been in an ambush spot rather than right on the trail.:cry:
