Did he get to keep the antler's?

AWW that really sucks. Hopefully he had bred a ton of cows and his genes will live on. Really strong 4's would like a side pick. the second guy looks like he has to go to the bathroom or maybe just did.

Unfortunately I've watched plenty of trucks that don't even slow down when wildife is on the road shoulder.....

When i first started hunting my partner lived in lytton and worked for the highways he would often see elk down in the high school field during the winter.I would be curious to see how many elk are in that area?and if they are increasing in numbers in the area or just maintaning the herd?I know there is no open season, or leh for elk in the Lytton area.

I thought it was against the law to pick up road kill and take it home? very nice anyway.

He manages the highways. Thats part of his job is to remove the roadkill. My dad does the same thing for LDM in Houston and Burnslake. He is always either sending guys out or going himself to remove the roadkill.

Thats a beauty rocky mountain elk. I would love to see one like that in my crosshairs next season. To bad it had to die, like everyone says, hopefully his genes got passed on. I think it would net higher then 317. He looks like a 330-340 bull for sure.

I'm not sure what they did with it. I know if they want to keep the horns they have to apply for a permit. dunno though

Looks like they've kind of made their mind up about what to do with it by skinning it out?

Ya. I read posts.. The point being, they work for the road maintenance company and that doesn't allow them to do what they are doing with the elk (skinning and retaining the antlers, if they are, I don't know).. Unless they have/obtain a permit.. No different than me picking the elk up on the highway and doing what I want with it.. They can dispose of it as the contractor BUT cannot keep meat or antlers.. That's all I was getting at !!!

Trying to see the humor in that , Why do you find that funny???

who really cares what he is doing with it, he works for the highways removing animals. Would you be happier if he did what he was supposed to and threw it in the dump?
as long as it was hit by a car and not a magnum (unless it was a dodge magnum) bonus for him and where he works.
permit is a govt money grab it does nothing for the wild life

Of all places why the heck were elk put in that area anyways ( iknow they were introduced a few years back). One major highway, two major railroads and over five Indian reserves. I travel through the Fraser canyon atleast two times a week and every year there has been atleast one elk hit that I've seen or heard of. A few that have totaled some cars and sen't people to the hospital.

Like 40 or 50 years ago. They were not put there but many miles away in the high country between Lytton and Merrit. Some of them wandered around and decided they wanted to live in the hills and canyon around Lytton.
