Well, I have "calmed" down enough about this to do something about it now.
First day of the season this year, we got out of the truck and grab our bows. I have a Excalibur crossbow and pulled the string back to load it. I heard the familiar "click" like many times before indicating it was cocked and let go - well, as you can figure, it dry fired.
After waking every animal up within 2 kms with my cursing, I surveyed my crossbow for damage.
The string had broken immediately and that was obvious. A closer look revealed a crack down the right arm. I suspect there is probably other stuff as well.
Is this worth fixing or should I chalk it up to a learning experience and get another one?
It is not under warranty but does anybody think contacting Excailbur might result in them fixing it? I know they had a problem with the trigger release mechanism on this and wonder if that broke again.
