Hey everyone just wondering what bullet type i should use to take a bobcat? I'm shooting a robinson arms xcr .223. For a mount or hides should i use FMJ or is it better to uses the fragmenting bullets like V-MAX. Also if I'm shot gunning for them whats a good shot size. Thanks I'm going to be trying hard for them all winter.

you can't use a fmj to hunt with. i would use a .22, or if you reload reduce the powder for your .243. the taxidermist can sew up a tear but can't put back together what been blown away. if you don't reload buy some recoil reduced in .243... good luck.

speer 50 grain tnt work well in 22-250 and .223

if you can use a 22 rimfire on bobcats you must be allowed to use a fmj on one. the little 22 bullets dont really expand at all. I also have a 17hmr but I think the vmax bullets wont penetrate enough. I have 20 grain soft points as well which I would use but only within 50 yards thats why I want to stick with the 223.

no fmj for hunting

fragmenting bullets it is then. Just read the regs again and there it is no fmj for hunting or trapping period. even on small game where a rimfire can be used

I use the V-Max's out of my 22-250...they work well - do try and hit them at right angles though (doesn't matter broadside, frontal etc. just at right angles or close to it) Why?....eg. frontal shot but quartered slightly to the shooter and you are off (left or right slightly) and don't hit dead center but the shoulder instead, it tends to expand once it hits the shoulder and opens them up from shoulder to rear and makes a MESS!
