Cousin and I went out this afternoon - he for a whitetail buck and I for my doe. Hadn't seen anything except for a doe with a fawn in tow for the first hour. But on the way out of a cut block he spied two deer bedded down in the timber about 50 feet down and 50 yards away from the fsr. We both got out - he without his rifle and I with my rifle. As he put his glasses up he could see antlers on the back deer and I could only see the doe from my vantage point.

He ran back to the truck, grabbed his 300 wsm and we were to shoot together. As it turned out, he found the trigger first and 5 seconds later I took the still-bedded doe. Neither left their bed under their own power.

No deer pics yet because of technical difficulties. His was an almost toothless regressing 4x5 heavy horned 11" wide buck. The doe was dry.

Anyways, the good news is that I recovered an x bullet. My 7 mag spits these 140 x's out at 3080fps. The bullet entered the upper neck, exited, entered the middle ribcage and exited in front of the the rear flank and then entered and came to rest against the near side hind quarter bone. She was bent in her bed I guess. 139 grains recovered weight. Perfect performance, almost no meat damage even though there were so many entry/exit wounds.

Nice way to end a season with a double-header! High fives were necessary. We also had my 7 year old son with us and it was his first time out during a successful harvest. He was a bit squeamish during the field dressing but is now asking lots of questions.

Is that an X-bullet or a TSX. I have yet to recover a TSX.
