I have searched to no avail. I am sure it was on here. Some one posted instructions on how to build a wood heater out of old propane tanks. Can anyone help me out with this info.

Thanks Burke

Sure, I'll help ya out. Don't you even think about using one for a project like this. I knew a guy that was trying the exact same thing and now he does not have a right hand. His right hand was blown off because there was still a small amount of propane in the tank and he had left the valve open all night to drain it. Did not matter because some of the propane had turned to liquid and as soon as the cutting torch heated the metal up just right , BOOOOOMMMM. No more hand and just about lost his life as well , because his wife was so mad at him for being so dumbstupid , she wanted to strangle him in the hospital. You want a good cheap wood heater?? go find a a rail spike can from the CPR with the lid to match and get busy with the tinsnips and the pliers. You are young , white and upwardly-mobile , are you not?

I have built a couple out of 20lb propane cylnders/ its alot of work!!!!! to be able to put about a 10" long piece of wood in. Go To C-Tire and by the Hunters special, it will take a 12-14" length round. Its very portable and it works very well. Good Luck

"he had left the valve open all night to drain it."
"some of the propane had turned to liquid"

Did he leave the tank up side down to drain it. Propane is a liquid and not a gas, turns to gas under pressure.

Princess auto had wood stoves for cheap! Check it out before you decide to blow your hand off. What I would do is shoot that tank first that way you know the propane is out.

Another option with more control is http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.southernstates.com/catalog/images/product/icon/05905443.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.southernstates.com/catalog/c-222-portable-heaters.aspx&usg=__wN5-WjAQoKEy-vpfJmagOygYGTg=&h=150&w=150&sz=12&hl=en&start=78&um=1&tbnid=Rv5krs96I7PPmM:&tbnh=96&tbnw=96&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dpropane%2Btank%2Bwood%2Bheater%26ndsp %3D21%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Dactive%26rlz%3D1G1GGLQ_EN CA338%26sa%3DN%26start%3D63%26um%3D1
