Anybody hunt around Casltegar? I'm heading out there for a week for work.Bringing the gun see if I can get a whitetail.I don't know the area @all.Is there certain FSR to try and also to stay away from, hows the snow? any info would be appreciated.

Went up there fishing once. The guy who runs the Gun/Rod shop was pretty helpful pointing me to some lakes.
His shop is right across the highway from the Sandman Inn and Chevron.

There is lots of restricted access and local knowledge definitely helps.
Generally they can be found up the arrow lakes past the dam. Try the Haul road area.. watch for road closure and general closure areas on the 2nd bench.. Slocan valley river bottom is good.. Pass creek area can produce.. Koch creek can produce.
Genelle bluffs on the right side towards trail is decent. Get maps.. use google earth and if you have gps.. use em all

Snow as of 4:00 pm on Friday in the Slocan Valley...
