Started first on trying to get my moose.Lots of sign, fresh browse and lots of rubbings. They were definately in the area, only a matter of time.

Went with my Uncle, needed someone to operate a quad,oh yea, and he had to bring his own.lol.One morning he drops me off to hunt a large slough/meadow we saw a couple of nice bulls head into, the day earlier.I had hunted after them and put them out of their beds, but couldn't get on them to confirm bone.Crunchy snow, and thick timber made it too hard to see antlers.Pushed them through and saw the ass ends on 3 different occassions.Frustrating,..also put up a cow with calf while pursuing these bulls.Anyways, next day I decide to head into this meadow, and hunt the timber fringes,as we had a full moon all night and I knew they would be heading into the timber in the morning light to bed.Across the valley I seen my truck heading up,with my Uncle on board.5 minutes later I see the truck come back down dust flying behind him. I turn around and make my way back to my drop off point and up he comes."Bull",.."Big Bull',get in the truck!!.He had driven into a side spur and spots this nice bull feeding away from him, facing some scrub timber. He tells me the bull never even saw him so he should still be standing there. We make our way back to the start of this side spur, park the truck, packs, gear, etc and make our way down to this old slash.Taking our time,we get set and step out into the setting.Nothing..couldn't believe it.Only about 20 minutes time lapse since he first saw it until we got there. We both said a few choice words.I made a plan to head down wind to the lower right side of this large setting
and make my way into the timber and work back up to where he was last spotted. The winds was hitting hard now and the timber was making lots of cover noise, wind right in my face.Great ,so off I went.About an hour stalk upwind to the area I thought he might be in.Walking slowly ,as there was alot of blow down, and I kept getting down on one knee and checking the area for a moose bedded.I take a step and almost step on this moose!Up SHE gets, yes, she, and runs about 30 yards out.Big cow, just standing there.I played with her for a few minutes, cow calling at first, somewhat interested, then a bull grunt, well she liked that ,ears perked right up and she's staring at me.The whole time, she is not moving.I get to thinking,if she had a calf with her she would have got up ran out,and "pulled" her calf with her as she ran.But she didn't.Just stood there looking around, ears turning as it was quite noisy.About 20 minutes goes by,I concluded early that she had no calf with her,but was sure she had a boyfriend around. So I start into a bull grunt about 1 every 20 to 30 seconds, quite spaced apart.Again she looks right at me ears perked right up,30 yards away,..then, she looks hard to my left side, at something..busted!I turn and at about 40 yards,to my left all I see is the back end of a moose cutting out, quartering away in this thick scrub timber. Now I'm busted, wind going right at it.I flick the safety off and his head clears the trees, bone!!,lots of bone!! Engine room is blocked by timber and I see an opening where I hope he heads, and he runs through.Take the shot at the lungs and his head drops to shoulder height right away, good hit!.He keeps working away from me quartering, and I try a shot at the back of his neck, but missed. He holds up now at about 100 yards out in this timber.I could clearly see bright red blood running down his right shoulder, and down his leg,I think, again good first hit, lung blood, just a matter of time. He's standing there now, turned to his left side now looking back at me through the trees.I have a clear shot, find a good windfall, take my time and put it right under his chin."Bang-flop" as you say.Moose down.I make my way to him as I'm calling my uncle on the radios to confirm all the action. The cow moose spits out into the cut block and is spotted by my Uncle.Off she goes looking for a new boy-toy.

A great big thanks to my Uncle "G" for his initial spot, his patience to come get me,and of course his incredible ability to operate his quad.Shot this guy at about 10:30 am and never got him back to camp until late afternoon.Opened him up and hung him the tree until the next day.Got to sleep in and had bacon and eggs, and special coffees.Skinning and quartering for the day.He was a big old bull, with lots of war wounds.A scar on his face, one on his hind,an actual puncture wound on his flank, that made a fist size bruise, and tore into the flesh.A cracked antler right in the "bay" between the eyegaurd and main palm. A battler for sure.

Heading for home on tuesday, the end of 4 pt mulies, saw some does, but all had yearlings,so we didn't make any orphans out of them.Besides,I didn't really neeed to pop a doe now anyways.

region 5-(secret).We saw lots of bulls. Some were still hangin with the cows.Could have shot at least 3 more if we didn't get this guy.Lots, and I mean lots of wolf sign. No wonder we didn't see many deer. All the deer we saw were spooked and didn't stay to get their pictures taken. Thanks for all the comments.

Got one back in '98,the same area,a little bigger,

and sent his tooth in then.Came back he was 12 years old.I'm guessing this guy was in that range too,10 to 12 yrs. We were talking, and guestimated only a few more winters left.

Slips my mind right now,..um, ..oh yea, I remember now..it was the one with the water was running downhill.:-D The fishing was done on a day trip away from camp.I can say though, that I am jealous of you guys who live in the Chilcotin country.Truly a wonderful place to live.My bride is from Quesnell originally, met her here, and we return often.

You look like you killed six wild rainbows in moving water.

Maybe there were several people fishing and the rod was just there for scale in the pic???

I wasn't there, but I'm not gonna judge either.
