While stalking an elk - you happen across this ................ 25 yrds.

Do draw and shoot? - You have all the required tags etc - I'm not promoting poaching BTW!

Do you throw a large rock at it?

Do you draw and wait for the Mountain lion to take a step forward

What do you do?

Draw and shoot, though the left leg is obscuring part of the vitals, I think I'd try this shot at that distance.

Hammer him .... You are above hime .... the leg doesnt come into play ... if it does you would be lucky for a clean harvest
at 25 yrds ... that is one dead puddy tat

Take the photo, love that I saw a cat, and continue elk hunting.

Looks like a nice tom, a chance of a life time, draw , anchor, release.

Pack up and go to a new area, back on Oct long week end my 11 yrd and I were hunting in 5-2 around Big Lake and a bigger one than that jumped right onto the road in front of us , snarled and bounded off all I remember was its huge huge head and long tail. After that the deer hunting went from sparse to nothing real fast.

If I was interested in a cougar, that is a shot I would take for sure!

This happened to me last year just before sunset while bowhunting elk , but the cat was at 15 yards. I didn't have a tag. He wasn't being aggressive, just came into my calls. If I did have a tag I would of taken him without hesitation. Would of made a great rug/mount.
As for the pic below, I agree with Mikey, you are above him, place your shot in the soft spot above the front left leg and you'll nail the vitals on the way through.

We've had this happen two or three times now while bowhunting. Predators passing in the light. We don't take em. But at 25 yards, you want to be glad the cat is thirsty and not hungry.

I got a tag, that kitty is down! Draw, anchor, thump and done faster than you can read this!

Cougar is great tasting!! Really it is my favorite right after moose. If I had a tag I would certainly take that shot, even with my longbow, but for sure with a compound or crossbow.

Draw and shoot then start the adrenaline dump from realizing he was so close before I noticed.
Steve. Then go get him...cut the tag etc.

if it was a tom, I would take it - why else would you have a tag?

but I guess it depends how bad you want your elk

I'm not into shooting something for a rug waste of an animal. If I was willing to eat the damn thing might as well eat my house cat!I think it would be really cool just to be up close to him.If I was a cat hunter would wait for him to moved that left shoulder.thwap!

I have a cougar tag. If I saw that I would probably have to clean both sides of my shorts. Which would be worth it, especially if I connected.

Over and out for Mr. Kitty. Cougar is awesome eating, and honor him with a full mount if you can afford it.
