After a reasonably good start to the season, with a moose in the freezer and a couple of successful hunts with the younger fellas,it was time to set my sights on a mule deer for myself.
I spent 4 days hunting alone in region 8 early last week, but with the full moon and no snow,it was hard to target deer during the day.I should first say that I was hardly roughing it,I stay in a cabin in Tulameen with shower,laundry,t.v.,ect.,so it's a pretty comfortable trip.
I returned with my hunting partner on Saturday and we hunted till early this afternoon .I was obviously looking for a big buck and my partner who has had very limited time to hunt this year , was content to put any 4 point on the ground. As the hunt unfolded it was myself that had the only opportunity to put a 4 point in the freezer and I closed the deal.
We seen another reasonable 4 point today, but there was not much of an opportunity for a play.
We generally split our game, but with a moose in the freezer,I'm just as happy to help fill my pal's freezer.
This is a link to my earlier moose thread for any who have not seen and may be interested.

We were also visited by another member of this site,MichelD,and we shared a beer and a few stories at the cabin. We had never met,but have shared information thru p.m.,and he was still hunting when we left and with some luck, may have his own story.
I hope to target region 3 for a wallhanger yet, especially after seeing Marks buck.

Attaboy bud, nice buck!!! We just got back from our hunt up near you as well. I took one of my 10 year old daughters with me for the first time. She was great. Elkmaster C shot a nice 4pt and got it on video. The thread is coming. I passed on a couple of 4pts could not find one I liked. With the 3 elk my freezer is pretty full as well! Blacktails now!!!

That in my mind is what it's all about, quality time with friends and family.
Still waiting on the Elkmasters thread, look forward to the clip.
You are having a hell of a year, and I'm sure you will top it off with a nice Blacktail.Good luck hunting your backyard, probably nice to come home for dinner.
